New US horror anthology series Channel Zero is coming to Syfy in May.
The series created by Nick Antosca (Hannibal, Friday the 13th, Teen Wolf) and Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) will centre around “Candle Cove” for its first instalment.
The story is based on a tale written by Kris Straub from a “creepypasta” -user-generated horror stories that have been copy-and-pasted around the Internet.
Channel Zero premiered in the US in October, with second and third seasons approved in February.
The second instalment “No End House” will premiere on Syfy later in the year.
Candle Cove centres on one man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980s, and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.
Child psychologist, Mike Painter (Paul Schneider – Parks and Recreation) returns to his hometown of Iron Hill, Ohio almost 30 years after a series of unsolved murders of five local children, including his twin brother Eddie, whose body was never found.
Mike becomes suspicious that their deaths were caused by a creepy children’s television show, Candle Cove, an eerie pirate themed puppet show which only aired during the time the murders took place.
Old memories return to the surface when one mother’s child goes missing after mentioning that she had been watching Candle Cove. Although others remember watching this show, they are startled by the realisation that it never truly existed and they had been staring at TV static.
8.30pm Saturday May 6 on Syfy.
