Network TEN and industry personalities are taking to social media following today’s bombshell that TEN has entered voluntary administration.
TEN News Melbourne presenter Steve Quartermain said it was “Peace out people. Thanks for your kind messages today. Business as usual @ TEN News Melb. Please continue to support us by watching (TV).”
It was a view others, particularly in the News department supported.
While the Twittersphere has mined itself for creativity with “#FixNetworkTEN” punchlines TV Tonight brings you some of the more personal tweets….

No doubt these are troubling times but I believe TEN will come through it all thanks to the great people who work here.

If you would like to remind staff why you love TEN, now is the time to do so.

Most of the shows I watch regularly are on Ten such as Studio Ten, Bold and the Beautiful, Ten News and Neighbours. I know some people knock the reruns on Eleven but there are some good ones.
I didn’t watch Malcolm in the Middle first time round but our family is really enjoying it right now.
I’m a Celebrity and Australian Survivor are other favourites as well.
If Ten had Big Brother back that would be another favourite. Not everyone watches Netflix and I would hate to lose Ten.
For the past few decades Ten has been my preferred network. Like others I find the low ratings odd as most of my family, friends and acquaintances also prefer the Ten network.
I trust a positive outcome can be achieved.
There are only 5 shows I watch on Ten: “The Living Room”, “The Bold and The Beautiful”, “Family Feud”, “Neighbours” (which I know is 11, but they own it), and “NCIS” (which they keep treating the fans appaulingly by taking it off! Bring it Back!) I don’t watch any reality tv at all. I realize I’m in the minority (with the shows I watch & don’t watch), but, I do hope they can save Channel Ten.
Ten has always been my favourite commercial channel. All my favourite shows are on it – Masterchef, Australian Survivor, The Bachelor, the Bachelorette, I’m a Celeb Aus; and formerly Australian Idol, and Big Brother, and Perfect Match! I loved I Will Survive (wish they hadn’t panicked and recut it); and as a child it was also my favourite channel showing my favourite US shows, that remain fond in my heart today. I wish Ten all the best always.
TEN news @ 5PM is a staple for me…..love the crew….cannot wait for Tim (weather man) to return….There is a lot to love about TEN….
I have worked in FTA television for over 20 years. Have never once believed in the ratings system. I have work on shows that have been hugely popular… and some that have died off pretty quick. I honestly believe more people watch TEN, than what the ratings show us.
People can have a crack at 10 and bag it but there are a lot of people that would be feeling very nervous about there jobs.
10 have had some great shows over the years and still have them going. I hope it gets sorted out.
Should I be worried about offspring??? It’s due to air in two weeks from today.
It will air this year.
I’m aware. But after that? And all of tens shows? If ten ends up being no more what will happen? I know they will continue for now but we don’t know about forever, one day there might not be a ten network. I’m going to miss shows like offspring, have you been paying attention, the wrong girl etc. ten does do great drama and great Australian shows. Such a pity.
TEN didn’t have the best of the best U.S television but where Nine and Seven failed in good Australian made TV, TEN was able to succeed making great original shows like MasterChef, Australian Survivor, Family Feud, Shark Tank, I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Have You Been Paying Attention (my favorite 10 show that I hope pops up somewhere else). I hope TEN can survive somehow but I’ll miss ’em if they fold.
I love Channel Ten because of the USA shows they air. Even 11 still has many of the good ole’ ones that use to be on Channel 10. I just hope all these USA shows can be negotiated and will still be available to watch in the future. Keep your chin up guys!
Is it time to let this network fold. The business model for an fta ch is outdated and the sector needs to contract and consolidate to survive. Similarly SBS & ABC should merge. The restructure should be across the whole industry.
While views in an earlier post embrace a range of ideas, I’m not sure you’ve grasped the spirit of this particular post?
Yeah I think you are right. I like Masterchef, Celeb & Survivor. and the dating shows at the begining as a fair number of the ‘contestants’ are crazy..
I’ve said it elsewhere and several times, over the last few years Ten has become my favourite FTA commercial station. Their execution of Aussie versions of MasterChef and Survivor have been all time favourites (they even turned me on to at least four seasons of The Biggest Loser). Their news is less stuffy than 7’s and more sincere than Nine’s. They take bold family friendly moves and have a penchant for ridiculously long titles (Have You Been Paying Attention?; Talking ‘Bout My Generation; So You Think You Can Dance…). And TenPlay was one of the first catchup services to have decent functionality (I know it wasn’t the first but they got it right quicker than the others). I hope the changes that are coming allow for them to stick out from their staler competition.
