Returning: Happy Valley

Season 2 of hit UK drama will have its Free to Air premiere early next month.

Good news for ABC viewers with Season 2 of Happy Valley to have its Free to Air premiere early next month.

This screened on Pay TV last year and was again compelling viewing.

Season 2 picked up more BAFTA Awards including Best Drama Series & Best Leading Actress for Sarah Lancashire.

Sarah Lancashire returns in the acclaimed BBC thriller written by Sally Wainwright, revolving around the personal and professional life of a hard-working, dedicated police woman.

No-nonsense police sergeant Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) is back heading up her team of dedicated police officers in the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire.

Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton), the father of her grandchild and the man who nearly killed her, may be in prison, but he’s still very much in Catherine’s thoughts.

While on duty Catherine makes a gruesome discovery – a body. The victim’s injuries bear a striking similarity to a string of other murders over the previous few months, suggesting a serial killer is on the loose.

But the case becomes even more shocking when it emerges that Catherine knows the victim – something that could have significant repercussions for both herself and her family.

Elsewhere, Detective John Wadsworth (Kevin Doyle) is struggling to put an end to an affair that is rapidly spiralling out of control; and Tommy forms a bond with a mysterious female admirer despite being behind bars.

9:20pm Friday August 4 on ABC.

  1. Have already seen S2 and it’s definitely not to be missed.
Like S1, harrowing, compelling, gritty and poignant.
Deserves all the accolades it receives, especially Sarah Lancashire as the lead.
