Renewed: final two seasons for Killjoys

Another Canadian-made sci-fi gets the network news, but with 20 more episodes to wrap up.

Along with the axe falling on Dark Matter, Syfy announced the final two seasons for Killjoys over the weekend.

The Canadian-made series, created by Michelle Lovettra, has been renewed for a total of 20 episodes, spread over the course of two seasons.

“Helmed by Lovretta and driven by the superb storytelling, we are excited to bring Killjoys back for two final seasons,” said Bill McGoldrick, executive vice president scripted development for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, in a statement. “Tonight’s game-changing season finale sets the tone for the final chapters of our bounty hunter’s space adventures and we cannot wait for our talented cast and crew to bring to life what is sure to be an epic journey that will leave our passionate fans on the edge of their seats.”

The series, starring Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore and Luke MacFarlane as interplanetary bounty hunters, also airs in Australia on Syfy.

  1. Hopefully Canada will continue to make Syfy series as the USA has only Marvel and DC keeping their flag flying. Having said that the ending of these two reasonably low budget space operas does follow Canadian programming practice of giving some closure for the dedicated fans so kudos to the shows producers for that. Lets hope that the Syfy gaps created will be filled soon.
