ABC has denied suggestions it is in negotiations with Waleed Aly to host 7:30.
News Corp reported that Aly, who has fronted The Project since January 2015, is in talks with the national broadcaster.
The report said that Aly may now consider the TEN show “a little beneath him.”
“We can confirm that there is absolutely no truth to this report,” a spokesperson told Fairfax.
An ABC spokeswoman said News Corp simply got it wrong.
A Channel TEN spokeswoman declined to comment.

He apparently finds the Project “a little beneath him”.
Wonder how Carrie & Pete feel about that?
I think a bit of mischief making on behalf of News Ltd, which was directed more at the ABC than Waleed.
Al\y does a lot of freelancing with other media. Frequently appears on ABC Offsiders. I would have thought his Ten contract would have him excluded from other TV networks .
Why Would The ABC Pick Waleed .
I refuse to watch this guy
If Waleed Aly ever moved to the ABC, you would think he would get a massive pay cut because the ABC is a public broadcaster.
He will never go to 7:30 (didn’t he do Outsiders until recently though?)
Offsiders and ABC Radio. As far as I know he has a good working relationship with TEN, ABC and Fairfax.
You’d be nuts to leave Ten now. And 7:30 would be the wrong option. Q&A would be a better fit.
Nick : Q&A? Genius suggestion!
Sounds like more sour grapes after a certain failed bid…
That would be a backward step for Waleed in my view.
