Airdate: Howard’s End

UK - US miniseries debuts on ABC this Sunday night.

UK – US miniseries Howard’s End, based on E.M. Forster’s classic novel, has its debut on ABC this Sunday night.

Produced for BBC and Starz, this will air across 3 weeks including a double episode finale.

The cast features Hayley Atwell, Philippa Coulthard, Alex Lawther, Tracey Ullman, Matthew Macfadyen, Julia Ormond, Joe Bannister, Jonah Hauer-King and Bessie Carter.

This debuted internationally in November.

Often considered E.M. Forster’s masterpiece, Howards End is the story of two independent and unconventional sisters and the men in their lives seeking love and meaning as they navigate an ever changing world. Academy Award winning screenwriter Kenneth Lonergan brings a fresh take to this adaptation directed by BAFTA winner Hettie Macdonald.

  1. Just watched my recording of this (sorry, I know it is a little late to comment). It is beautifully produced and the acting was very, very good. But there were two problems – firstly, a small one of having up to four characters speaking all at once in several scenes. I have never seen that before, and hope I never do again.

    But the biggest problem is that the plot was very confusing and disjointed, and the house, Howards End, seemed to have very litte relevance to the story. I also didn’t really like or feel for, any of the characters.

    I hear the previous movie is well-loved. I might give that a try.

  2. At the start says it’s showing on Sunday; the end it states Monday. Assume it’s the former and not the latter given Monday night is almost always current affairs programming on ABC?
