Some viewers in Melbourne were a tad confused when a graphic declaring “Stop and Check” interrupted a news report.
Ross Greenwood was reporting on Myer when the story halted and the graphic was met with dead air for several seconds.
After a snap ad break the story resumed uninterrupted.
Nine News has been subjected to several production errors of late. It isn’t clear if the Stop and Check was a reminder to spell check…..

It looks like the presentation equipment had an incorrect run-time length and/or failed to detect any end cues and the manually operated “panic” button initiated a commercial break. It’s been a while since I’ve seen “Normal Service Will Be Resumed…”
They’ll probably blame it on Nine Sydney again like the way they blamed Sydney for running the report on Jane McGrath’s death a few years back well down in the order rather than being the top story.
Production error, probably due to most of the staff having been replaced with automation.
Maybe it was deliberate ploy to “stop and check” your local Myer for some bargains!
That should be unexceptable in a news broadcast.
I like the spelling suggestion. “Stop and check” is put up at the end of a video feed between two sites as an indication the feed has finished and the operator should stop recording and check the material.
Correct indeed. But not during a live cross!
Check it for what?
