Warner Bros to launch TVOD in Australia?

Time Warner is the latest studio rumoured to be eyeing the streaming landscape, but with possible plans for Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD) instead of Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD).

TVOD services such as iTunes allow online rental of individual movies and TV shows for a limited time. This differs from SVOD services which encompass wider catalogues for a monthly fee.

According to Business Insider, Linius Technologies says it’s signed a deal with Warner Bros to pilot in Australia its tech for a Transactional Video On Demand streaming platform.

Time Warner have just launched an online movie streaming service in the UK, known as FilmStruck.

One Comment:

  1. Another Hollywood studio dipping its toes into the “direct to customer” system although $50 a movie is pretty steep.
Adding an extra link in the money chain: Cinema, TVOD, Apple SVOD, DVD, Netflix, FTA.
