It’s been a long wait but Season 2 of Westworld begins in a month, same day as the US.

Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Thandie Newton and Ed Harris all return.

Set in the not-too-distant future, Westworld is a futuristic adventure park modelled after America’s Wild West. For over 30 years, guests have paid exorbitant amounts to be immersed in the Westworld universe, where every detail and scenario – including those involving the android ‘hosts’ that are virtually indistinguishable from humans – have been planned, scripted and executed by a team of brilliant scientists and programmers working in close proximity to the park. However, a group of the android hosts soon begin to deviate from their programmers’ carefully planned scripts, in a disturbing pattern of aberrant behaviour.

Westworld was inspired by the 1973 motion picture of the same name, written and directed by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park). Season one of the HBO series received 22 Emmy Award nominations.

Monday, April 23 at 11.00am AEST on Showcase, repeated at 8:30pm.

  1. Hopefully Season Two will be more satisfying to watch than Season One, Westworld is a cinema quality production but for a big budget show, which one would think should get better as it progresses, it was threatening to become just another American formulaic time filler recycling many well used story subplots that will be familiar to science fiction fans from the 80’s and 90’s, the Westworld producers must want to make at least five seasons to make their investment worthwhile.
