Amazon has announced October 12 as the date for The Romanoffs, the new anthology drama from Mathew Weiner (Mad Men).
The series which has shot in the US, Europe & Asia, features eight separate stories about people in contemporary times who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family that ruled Russia from 1613 until the Bolsheviks seized power in 1917.
The cast includes Christina Hendricks and John Slattery, Aaron Eckhart, Diane Lane, Paul Reiser, Isabelle Huppert, Corey Stoll, Andrew Rannells, Jack Huston and Amanda Peet.
Guest stars include Noah Wyle, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Bishé, Jay R. Ferguson, Ben Miles, Mary Kay Place, Ron Livingston, Jon Tenney, Clea DuVall and Aussie Radha Mitchell among many others.

Interesting premise. I’m excited to see how they pull it off. Series is further backed up with a great cast. Also interesting to see a couple of Mad Men alumni back under the Weiner wing. Serendipitously I’m reading Simon Sebag Montefiore’s biog of the Romanovs. Hopefully I will be finished by the time this starts.
