Eric Bana’s first US TV series Dirty John is headed to Netflix internationally.
The NBCU-produced anthology sees him star as “Dirty” John Meehan, a handsome and romantic charmer who sweeps Debra Newell (Connie Britton) off her feet and pulls her into his web of lies.
The previously-announced series is based on a podcast by LA Times reporter Chris Goffard and dramatises how the romance spiralled into secrets, deception, denial and, ultimately, survival. Season two will feature an entirely new stand-alone story.
It is written by Alexandra Cunningham (Chance, Desperate Housewives), who will co-executive produce. Jeffrey Reiner (The Affair, Friday Night Lights) will executive produce and direct the pilot episode.
The series will premiere on Bravo in the US.
