Returning: Marvel’s Iron Fist

Action series returns to Netflix in early September.

Warning: violence

A final trailer is out for Marvel’s Iron Fist, with a closer look at the battle of wills that’s about to take place on the streets of New York.

This returns to Netflix with Finn Jones on Friday September 7th. No sign of David Wenham this season….

Danny Rand (Finn Jones), alongside his partner Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), is trying to keep the peace among the many warring gangs of New York. With the help of Misty Knight (Simone Missick), they discover that the crime ring in the city goes far deeper than they had ever anticipated and hanging up their swords is no longer an option.

Meanwhile, Danny’s former best friend Davos returns to New York City after finding his home of K’un-Lun gone. Blaming Danny for K’un-Lun’s tragic fate, Davos swears to avenge their lost city, and reignites a sibling rivalry of sorts over the duties linked with wielding the legendary Iron Fist.

Marvel’s Iron Fist Season 2 stars Finn Jones (Danny Rand), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Sacha Dhawan (Davos), Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum), Jessica Stroup (Joy Meachum), Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and introduces Alice Eve (Mary Walker).

  1. Iron Fist started the first season with promise but failed to establish stronger character development in the main cast especially Finn Jones who struggled to maintain a convincing intensity that is a necessary with any action hero, especially one with a mystical power, Kwai Chang Caine he certainly is not, there was hardly any Stephan Amel gymnastic gimmickry as seen in Arrow, the show badly needed a lead actor with more martial arts expertise and physicality.

  2. Unlike many I didn’t hate the first season, however I do realise it had its flaws. I think Finn Jones looks the part of Danny, but at times his acting was very sub par… he improved in the Defenders and with his cameo in Luke Cage S2 so I’m optimistic that he will improve in this new season.
The trailer looks great though. Alice Eve’s Typhoid Mary will be curious, I’ve always enjoyed her work. If they can tighten up the show (not these hour long episodes full of bloat) then it will be all the better for it. I think I read somewhere that the season will only be 10 episodes as opposed to the normal 13… I hope that’s true because it will deliver a better product imo.
