Ruby Rose gets emotional over Batwoman role

"Growing up....I never saw someone on TV that I could identify with," says Ruby Rose.

After news broke that Ruby Rose will play Batwoman for The CW the Aussie star appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.

“Growing up, watching TV, I never saw someone on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero, you know?” she said.

Revealing she was emotional whilst attending a premiere for shark film The Meg, she told Fallon the super-hero casting news reminded her of an Oscar Wilde philosophy.

“‘Be yourself because everyone else is taken,'” she told Fallon.

“So I always live by that motto, and my second motto when I came into the industry is, ‘Be the person you needed when you were younger.’ And I feel like one motto led me to the other and I just kept crying about it.”

Rose will make her debut as Batwoman during a crossover event between The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl to screen on FOX8 in December.
