Shane Warne was paid $2m to appear in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2016, a figure that totalled the entire budget for the 2015 cast.
That’s more than twice the $900,000 revealed by Tom Arnold during his lawsuit with TEN.
News Corp has published an edited extract from No Spin by Shane Warne, by Ebury Press.
In Australia they tried to get me to do Dancing with the Stars. With due respect, I thought these shows were for wannabes and washed-ups.
The Australian I’m A Celebrity rang the first year – 2014 – but I scared them off with a figure of two million bucks or nothing.
They said, “That’s our budget for everyone”, so there was no deal. I watched that first series and quite liked it, and I got tempted by the chance to portray myself in an environment outside cricket.
I called James Erskine, my manager, who said he knew the main guy at Channel 10 and would speak to him again, which he did. Bingo! Next day, James rang to say we’ve got the $2 million! Oh shit! When you throw a big number out there, you’re not really expecting to get it; but now…
James negotiated me leeway on some things. One was smoking. I could smoke but had to follow the process of being about a hundred yards from the camp with a security guard accompanying me.
The next was my hair. It has to be redone by Advanced Hair every three weeks, so the company flew out to the bush midway through the filming of the program.

Wasn’t that said at the time & he denied it?
Now I understand why Shane put up with his great fear of spiders in those challenges. If the networks are silly enough to pay that sort of money, he would be a fool not to take it.
Is it any wonder 10 went broke and had to be bailed out by CBS. They pay a fortune and the ratings are still rubbish.
I’ve often thought that if I were a celeb I’d never do this show as I don’t like camping and would never eat all those critters and only eat rice for a month . But if they offered $2000 I would have no hesitation. I’d happily suffer. I wonder how many other celebs have got close to this figure.
Nobody knows what Shane Warne and Tom Arnold actually got paid – I guarantee it was less than half a mill each. Tomic left with about 10 cents!
I’ve only reported their statements.
It’s true when they say one is born every day!
$2 million dollars!!!
For 6 weeks in a ‘jungle’, I’d do that easily!
I would like to see some evidence. Warne has often embellished stories to his benefit.
Such a waste of money. Shane Warne is so overrated.
Advanced Hair, Yeah, Nah.
And people wonder why Ten ended up in financial strife.
Hopefully CBS can put a stop to that kind of nonsense.
Got zero respect for this bloke. But more fool Ten for paying that amount for him.
Oh my God.
