Perth’s annual Telethon is underway in the west, screening over 2 days.
Seven stars were out in force meeting fans, hosting and manning the phones, in aid of sick kids in WA. Leo Sayer kicked off the opening concert.
Home and Away‘s Patrick O’Connor was the first to be coaxed into getting shirtless for a $1000 donation.
Last night the event had raised a whopping $9m, on track for yet another WA record. Seven screens it non-stop over the weekend, finishing later tonight.

@battlestargalactica really?? That first negative sentence tells me you’re most likely are from the Eastern States.
Yes really. Telethon’s fantastic but how else do you explain the lack of a name artist in the opener. When Leo Sayer is your biggest drawcard something’s going on….
Do they pay I wonder? If so it would be a costly exercise. If not I guess there’s no incentive for a big artist to jet to Perth to do 2 or 3 songs. Anyway 38 million bucks is a good result nonetheless.
Lovely cause and a big round of applause to everyone who pulls it off but what’s happened to the opening concert? We had about four songs this year all from reality contestants that went home early (Big T, Vlado appearing in a band etc). Leo Sayer and Casey Barnes came out later but overall it was a bit of a fizzer. What’s happened to the drawcard artists??
