Entertainment upstages Reality (again)

Ratings: Hard Quiz, Mad as Hell take out Wednesday slots. Seven wins the night.

ABC’s entertainment shows have again upstaged reality TV offerings by winning their slots.

Hard Quiz was the top entertainment show of the night on 710,000 defeating Bride & Prejudice on 623,000 and a penultimate Bachelorette on 618,000 (although 10’s show notably topped the demos) followed by 7:30, Young Sheldon and Child Genius.

Mad as Hell at 703,000 was streets ahead of the competition Young Sheldon on 462,000, Blind Date and DNA Nation. Around 9pm Tomorrow Tonight‘s 506,00 battled 9-1-1‘s 498,000.

Seven News, ACA and The Chase won early slots as usual.

Seven network won with 30.9% then Nine 25.4%, 10 18.6%, ABC18.3% and SBS 6.9%.

Seven News was #1 with 949,000 / 897,000 then Bride & Prejudice (623,000), Home & Away (580,000), 9-1-1 (498,00), The Chase (483,000 / 286,000), and Criminal Minds (251,000 / 136,00.).

Nine News (829,000 / 817,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (718,000), Young Sheldon (522,000, 462,000 / 450,000), Hot Seat (436,000 / 257,000) and Manifest (291,000 / 196,000).

The Bachelorette (618,000) was best for 10 followed by The Project (460,000 / 293,000), 10 News First (371,000) and Blind Date (284,000). Pointless was 210,000 and A Million Little Things launched poorly to just 116,000.

Hard Quiz (710,000) and Mad as Hell (703,000) were strong or ABC then ABC News (629,000), 7:30 (615,000), Tomorrow Tonight (506,000), and The Set (142,000). Superwog drew 88,000.

Child Genius drew 198,000 for SBS followed by DNA Nation (137,000), SBS World News (127,000) and The Missing (92,000).

Waffle the Wonderdog on ABC Kids waffled on to 193,000.

  1. ‘Mad As Hell”s skewering of the grandiose Grand Designs was brilliant-saw the following ‘Tomorrow Tonight’ show and was very unimpressed-silly attempts at humor that fell flat and no real discussion of the actual serious issues-not a patch on the old ‘Hypotheticals’
