Four Corners confirms episode on ABC management turmoil

Final episode for 2018 turns the cameras onto ABC internal.

Four Corners has confirmed its episode next week will delve into the management and board disarray that led to Michelle Guthrie and Justin Milne departing the broadcaster.

The episode, its final for 2018, has been rumoured since the fallout of September.

“Next week we investigate the turmoil that engulfed the ABC forcing he departure of both the managing director and the chairman, in one of the most tumultuous episodes in the corporation’s history,” host Sarah Ferguson told viewers.

After managing director Michelle Guthrie was dismissed by the ABC Board, Four Corners executive producer Sally Neighbour tweeted “Excellent decision.” Is it still possible for the episode to maintain a balanced and independent view?

Guthrie has since instigated legal action over her dismissal.

It isn’t yet clear which reporter and producer has been tasked with revealing the inside machinations, but this will be must-see viewing.

8:30pm Monday on ABC.

  1. “Four Corners executive producer Sally Neighbour tweeted “Excellent decision.” Is it still possible for the episode to maintain a balanced and independent view?” The answer to that is No, but that has sadly become typical of what today pretends to be the “Australian Broadcasting Corporation” but is, in fact, the “Ultimo Self-interest Collective”. Aunty herself passed away years ago and will be rolling in her grave as she sees what her once great institution has now become.

    1. Four corners is rarely balanced. They pick a particular topic and provide interviews and information that supports it. It is like a weekly Michael Moore documentary. They do that well. Let’s not pretend they strive for any sort of balance on a regular basis.

    2. I agree, if an accountant audited themselves and reported their findings to the public, how you would know if they’ve reported in a truly balanced and independent way?

  2. Should be interesting. I’m still waiting for Killing Season part 2 dealing with Libspill like they did about Labor a few years back. Would love to see the ins & outs of that time.
