Game of Thrones returns in April 2019
Winter is coming in autumn for Aussie GoT fans.

HBO has now confirmed the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will return in April 2019.
There are 6 episodes concluding the global phenomenon, to screen express from the US on FOX Showcase.
There is no premiere date as yet but US reports suggest April 14 as the last possible date if HBO wants all 6 episodes in Emmys eligibility.
Every battle.

The date also means Foxtel can now work towards a date for other products, marketing and programming. GoT represents a much-prized opportunity for eyeballs outside of sport, and a chance to strike while the Iron Throne is hot.
Meanwhile a prequel series, based on a story created by Jane Goldman and George R.R. Martin, will begin shooting next year with Naomi Watts (and rumours of Sheila Atim and Denise Gough).
