Weekend Today co-host Peter Stefanovic has quit Nine, after 15 years with the network.
During that time he has worked on Nine News, 60 Minutes, Weekend Today and Inside Story.
This year he was at the centre of an infamous ‘Ubergate’ phone call with brother Karl Stefanovic. Recent reports suggested he was coming out of contract with the network.
A Nine Spokesperson said, “Nine and reporter Peter Stefanovic have mutually decided to part ways after 15 years.
“Peter has decided to explore new opportunities and is looking forward to spending weekends with his wife.
“He has been a respected member of the Nine News team and Weekend Today, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Peter said: “I’ve had an amazing time at Nine being a foreign correspondent, News reporter and covering some amazing stories for 60 Minutes. I’ll miss my friends at Nine very much, it has been a huge privilege to work alongside so many great people.”

Peter and Karl have massive egos and a lot of things they did were beneath them. all they wanted to do was 60 MInutes.
I think he will end up on Channel 10, like Lisa Wilkinson and Chris Bath.
I can see him on studio ten doing the advertorials
He will probably join Studio 10, it’s where Sarah Harris and Jess Rowe ended up. lol. I think Today needs a revamp and new cast or an extended break
Wow. It was what the media speculated would happen right? Wondwr what the next move will be?
My problem with Peter is he proved the characteristic of ‘smug’ runs in the family. Like his brother, he made ‘Today’ unwatchable. I turned off every time I saw him on.
I think Peter tried to copy his brother Karl but it did not work.
It’s about time the today show was axed. Bring back the super flying fun show. What is Miss Marilyn doing these days?

So the revolving door of Weekend Today hosts continues. Don’t follow it closely but believe the hosts have changed several times in the last few years. In stark contrast to the far superior Weekend Sunrise which has a warm family like feel about it. You could tell when Andrew O’Keefe departed how much admiration his colleagues had from him. Basil Zempilas has slotted into his role without missing a beat. Both Baz and Simon Reeve seem like lovely genuine people. (not to suggest any of the people at 9 aren’t)
A warning sign to everyone else. They just cant cut the other names incase they dive further in the ratings. Personally never liked him but i think they got rid of the wrong Stefanovik. Also 10 dont please dont be that stupid…..
You’re better than all of them. Good riddance.
Now off to restart career with a spin on Dancing with the Stars?
What odds he’s signed with 10? Short I’d imagine.
Another 60 Minutes reporter who will probably end up on Sunday Night.
