Kylie, Olivia, Magda in Australia Day honours 2019

Ian Thorpe, Human Nature, Anita Jacoby & Cornelia Frances also honoured.

Kylie Minogue, Olivia Newton-John and Magda Szubanski are among this year’s Australia Day Honours recipients.

Olivia Newton-John was made a companion of the Order of Australia (AC), the highest award in the honours system.

“I am delighted and honoured to receive this very distinguished and special award,” she said.

“To be presented with this esteemed recognition by the Governor-General fills me with gratitude and pride to be Australian.”

Kylie Minogue AO has been recognised for her charitable service to a number of organisations, including as the founder of One Note Against Cancer.

Magda Szubanski has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia for her work as an actor, comedian and writer, and also as a campaigner for marriage equality.

All four members of Human Nature, Toby Allen, Phil Burton and Andrew and Mike Tierney, have received the medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the performing arts as entertainers.

Ian Thorpe AM is recognised for his service to youth and Indigenous education.

Also honoured are film producer Susan Maslin, reporter Adele Ferguson, TV producer Anita Jacoby, commentator Dennis Cometti, presenter Julie McCrossin and financial journalist Alan Kohler.

Actor Cornelia Frances is also posthumously honoured.
