Norwegian sports drama gets a broadcast on SBS next week.

Norwegian sports drama Home Ground will premiere on SBS late on Monday.

This is a 10 part drama which has been available at SBS on Demand.

This debuted internationally in March.

A drama series about Helena Mikkelsen’s (Ane Dahl Torp) struggle to make it as Europe’s first female coach for a men’s team in the National Premier league in Norway. Home Ground follows her story as she moves to a small tight-knit community with strong willed and hardheaded individuals. She struggles to balance a life as a single mum with her teenage daughter on the home field, and must conquer her struggles in order to get optimal results on the football field. Home Ground is all about passion, identity, and loyalty. It is about relocating to a small community and trying to gain the respect of others without losing yourself.

Series One, Episode One: Who Wants It More?
After leading her team to sensational results in European women’s football, coach Helena Mikkelsen finds her achievements ridiculed by the male experts of the footballing world. The humiliation continues as she’s offered the job as assistant to Michael Ellingsen, a European star player looking to become head coach of a newly promoted Norwegian club.

Fuelled by humiliation and anger, Helena demands to be considered for the head coaching position. Despite club director Espen Eide’s initial hesitation, Helena is soon able to expose the club’s weaknesses and convince Espen that the club is in bigger trouble than they realise. Faced with Helena’s fiery will and passion for the game, Espen puts his own job on the line and offers Helena the historic position as Head Coach of Varg IL.
