GOLFTV streaming has launched

Golfing fans get their own dedicated streaming service.

A new streaming service devoted to Golfing, GOLFTV, launched recently and will offer exclusive full coverage of the World Golf Championships.

Coverage of the WGC-Mexico Championship began on Friday.

The service is available at GOLF.TV and works with Chromecast, and Airplay.

A Live Monthly Pass costs $9.99, and can be cancelled at any time before the next month’s access is due.

Alex Kaplan, President and General Manager, Discovery Golf, recently said: “Streaming world-class golf events exclusively in one of the game’s most passionate markets is a significant step in our aim to build the new digital home of golf around the globe. With more exclusive access to Tiger Woods at the Genesis Open last week, GOLFTV continues to develop its content offering, ensuring it has every angle of every golf event covered – powering the passion of the game’s biggest fans.”

Rebecca Kent, General Manager – Australia, New Zealand & Pacific Islands, Discovery, said: “We’re excited to be offering Australians exclusive, live coverage of premium PGA Tour events, including the upcoming WGC-Mexico Championship. With four Aussies competing this week, along with some of the biggest names in the sport, fans will be able to follow the action closely on GOLFTV. In addition to the four WCG events which are exclusive to the service in Australia, GOLFTV subscribers will be able to enjoy extensive coverage of more than 70 events throughout the year, along with unique content and 360 degree coverage of the sport.”

  1. I would suggest that no observer of media trends should be surprised by this news, the control of broadcast rights by various sporting organisations in Australia and overseas will open up a few more sporting streaming sites in the future especially if Fox Sports becomes more focused on funding the popular codes that get the bulk of advertising revenue.

    1. It can’t do all the niche sports now that it has all the 3 big Australian ones – Cricket, NRL and AFL.

MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL are all on ESPN along with College sports. MLB, NFL and NBA haven’t been on Fox Sports for quite a few yeas now. ESPN is the home of US Sports on Foxtel now. Mind you, the subscription services form MLB and NBA are both brilliant in their own right and the only option for serious fans of these sports.

NASCAR Trackpass has NASCAR in Australia this year by the looks of it.

  2. Thanks for the update. Foxtel has been really quiet about this considering they have lost a few big events. Their 2019 calendar says they have pga tour till September (which is when the 18-19 season ends) but nothing after that for when the 2019-20 starts straight after. Watch this space as far as pga tour on fox sports goes.
