rage guest programmer: Joan Jett

Joan Jett will be taking over rage today with a little help from Kenny Laguna.

Rock ‘n’ Roll legend and feminist pioneer Joan Jett will be taking over rage today with a little help from her Blackhearts co-founder, Kenny Laguna.

(any sign of Joan Kirner…?)

From forming The Runaways at the age of 15, to guiding the riot girl sound into life – Joan has been a stalwart of punk and hard rock since the mid ‘1970s. And she has the hits (and the riffs) to back it.

Having decades of experience under her belt, Joan is continuing to rock, and tour, the free world, producing coveted punk and rock bands like Bikini Kill, and continuing to release and produce albums under her Blackhearts record label alongside Kenny as her long-time collaborator. As a testament to her influence on the sound of modern rock, Joan performed ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ with the remaining members of Nirvana for their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. An honour she too would be granted the following year.

And now, we’re absolutely thrilled to have these two seminal figures in rock ‘n’ roll gracing the red couch to share stories and anecdotes from their many years of touring together with the likes of Blondie, Foo Fighters and Jimmy Barnes. If you love rock ‘n’ roll, you won’t need another dime for the Ragebox next Saturday night. This one’s on Joan Jett!

10am and 11:44pm today on ABC TV.
