Ronny Chieng has been cast in a US comedy pilot, Super Simple Love Story for CBS.
The series is a story told through interviews and vignettes spanning 10 years about how an unlikely couple becomes an unlikely family.
He will join Susan Wokoma, Elizabeth Alderfer and David Walton, playing play Harris, Kevin’s (Walton) friend and former college roommate, an atheist without a filter who “loves to debate” and mostly ruins every social interaction by getting in his own way — and everybody else’s.
Written and executive produced by Mike Royce and directed by Pam Fryman, while Nick Stoller is also a producer.
Chieng has been a correspondent for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah since 2015 and appeared in Crazy Rich Asians.
His ABC comedy Ronny Chieng: International Student screened in the US through Comedy Central but is yet to be renewed for a second season. In 2016 Variety named him on their “Comics to Watch” list.
