SBS VICELAND: International Women’s Day

Docos this Friday look at gender pay gap, the changing world of gender and identity and profile Hollywood directors.

SBS VICELAND will celebrate all things girl power on Friday, International Women’s Day.

9.55pm Why Do Men Earn More Than Women (2018)
Through women’s stories from every corner and sector of society, Baroness Karren Brady (The Apprentice) uncovers the shocking truth of the gender pay gap in Britain – how early in life it starts, how unjust the consequences of this inequality can be at every pay grade and ultimately the toll it’s having on women’s lives.

10.50pm What Makes A Women (2018)
Transgender model and social activist Munroe Bergdorf examines the changing world of gender and identity in today’s society, as she becomes both author and subject of her first UK documentary. The film follows Munroe as she undergoes dramatic facial feminisation surgery as part of tackling her gender dysphoria, a hugely personal moment that kick starts an exploration of the central question – ‘What Makes a Woman?’

11.50pm Half The Picture (2018)
Half The Picture consists of interviews with high profile women directors including Ava DuVernay, Jill Soloway, Lena Dunham, Catherine Hardwicke, and Miranda July, among many others, who discuss their early careers, how they transitioned to studio films or television, how they balance having a demanding directing career with family, as well as challenges and joys along the way.

Friday, 8 March at 9.55pm on SBS VICELAND.
