ABC’s annual ANZAC Day coverage next Thursday includes Live coverage of marches in each state, and the Gallipoli service in Turkey and Villers-Bretonneux from France.

These will be broadcast on ABC, ABC News and live streaming on ABC iview and Facebook throughout the day.

2019 marks the 104th anniversary of the action by Australian, New Zealand and other Commonwealth troops in Gallipoli in 1915.

From 4.30am AEST, ABC will broadcast the Anzac Dawn Service from Sydney, followed by the Anzac Dawn Service from Canberra at 5.30am AEST. At 12.30pm AEST, the Gallipoli Dawn Service will commence from the Anzac Commemorative site located by the water at Anzac Cove in Turkey. The cove is on the Gallipoli Peninsula and following the landing became the main base for the Australian and New Zealand troops during the 8-month campaign.

Our Anzac troops returned home after the war during an influenza pandemic that would kill 50 million people worldwide. And as we remember the immediate aftermath of the war to end all wars, 2019 also marks 80 years since the commencement of WWll in September 1939.

As is customary, the Anzac Day Message by the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC, will be broadcast nationally immediately before the ABC evening news bulletins at 7pm.
