More renewals in the US ahead of annual Upfronts announcements….
This is Us has been renewed for a whopping 3 seasons (can’t recall a show ever enjoying this before), although there are suggestions this will conclude the series for writer Dan Fogelman.
“In a television landscape with nearly 500 original scripted series, there are very few, if any, that have the critical and cultural impact of This Is Us and we couldn’t be more proud to bring fans three more seasons of a show that so well represents the NBC brand,” said NBC Entertainment scripted presidents Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta. “A huge thank you and congratulations to our executive producers, cast and crew who reach new heights every week with the show’s inventive and compelling storytelling.”
It airs in Australia on 10 Peach.
Man With a Plan starring Matt LeBlanc, which also airs on 10 Peach, gets a fourth season.
Blindspot has been renewed for a fifth and final season by NBC. The drama, which includes Aussie Sullivan Stapleton, averaged 2.8 million total live viewers in is fourth season. It screens on Seven.
The Goldbergs wins a seventh season from ABC while its spin-off Schooled has a second season. The Goldbergs is currently airing season 6 on Seven.
Seth MacFarlane comedy The Orville has been renewed for a third season at FOX. It averaged 3.16 million total live viewers. In Australia it screens on SBS VICELAND.

Milo Ventimiglia said recently in an interview on Ellen that season 6 would be the final season of This Is Us. Dan Fogelman has already mapped out the final 3 seasons.
So… will we ever see the current season of Blindspot on Channel 7?
Season 4 begins this Wednesday night at 11.30pm on 7.
I have a feeling The Orville signed off for a 3 season deal which most producers desire when lobbying for enough funding to market a new title for World wide distribution, it’s noticeable Seth MacFarlane has taken more creative control too, The Orville is moving more and more away from the silly comedic sketches and looking fully merged into the Star Trek universe with some excellent and expensive CGI included.
you can’t stop Rich Dot Com so glad that blindspot will get a final season to wrap it up
I am very happy The Orville has been renewed. I read it was touch and go for awhile there. Love this show.
Same here, series 2 has stepped up a gear so to speak, so looking forward to where the show goes in series 3. Great cast and interesting stories, very enjoyable to watch.
Likewise, it started off as something rather different from what it became. Running out of ‘d*ck-n-fart jokes in space’ was the best thing and it’s much better for it.
I think that it came down to with Disney taking over FOX and Seth MacFarlane’s contract up in June they didn’t want to take the chance of letting him go to any opposition. Netflix for one have been actively chasing him and have even built an animation studio to eliminate the cost of outsourcing, so with Disney + coming I think they thought best to keep Seth. As Disney chief Bob Iger has said a few times they want Disney + to be more Family orientated, while keeping (their now majority owned) Hulu and FOX more adult orientated, so Seth will be a good fit.
They already lost Ryan Murphy to Netflix as well as Shonda Rhimes from Disney owned ABC, so I don’t think they’d want to lose Seth as well, with all the groups Disney now own they can’t lose too many known show-runners
Love The Orville as well. I enjoy it more than Star Trek Discovery and I am a Star Trek fan!
Hi David, in response to “This is Us” being renewed for three consecutive seasons, I can tell you “The Big Bang Theory” was renewed for three seasons in 2015 covering seasons 8-10. Back in the 90’s, “E.R” and “Friends” were given multi-year renewals. But you’re right, it’s not common in today’s tough climate.
So they were haggling over S6 of This Is Us, not S4. That makes more sense, S6 will come with a substantial salary boost. It would be hard to keep the cast together for more than that.
The show runners have apparently said they always wanted it to have a six season run.
Didn’t Big Bang get renewed for 3 seasons a few years back?
Outside of that, I can’t think of anything getting renewed for 3 seasons at once.
The Will & Grace revival had 3 seasons green lit.
Why are the comments always 90 per cent trying to ” school ” David and try to prove they may no more information then the website provides . Enjoy the site and be more encouraging and appreciative. That is all ..
Not quite. After it premiered to good numbers, the network gleefully renewed it for another 2 seasons. And then the ratings dived…
