Comedy Central: June highlights

The New Negroes, Alternatino and Teachers this month on Fetch TV.

These are the highlights screening this month on Comedy Central on Fetch TV:

The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle (8 x 30mins)
9:30pm Friday June 14th
The New Negroes with Baron Vaughn and Open Mike Eagle is a socially aware stand-up and music series showcasing a collection of new and established comedians and musicians. According to Vaughn and Eagle, the pair took inspiration for the series and title from the term “New Negro” as popularized during the Harlem Renaissance, referring to Black Americans speaking up, telling their own stories, and affirming their various identities to dismantle outdated assumptions and beliefs. Stand-Up talent include Chris Redd, Donnell Rawlings, Lil Rel Howery, Sasheer Zamata, Dulce Sloan, George Wallace, Sam Jay and many more. Musical talent include Method Man, MF Doom, Danny Brown, Phonte, Lizzo, Father, and Sammus. Hannibal Buress and Moshe Kasher make guest appearances.

Alternatino with Arturo Castro (10 x 30mins)
9:55pm Friday June 21st
Latinos are at the forefront of a cultural conversation around immigration and American identity. Yet, we still don’t see much about their experience in popular culture. In Alternatino with Arturo Castro, Arturo Castro (Broad City, Narcos) continues Comedy Central’s unparalleled legacy of developing the biggest and most culturally relevant sketch comedy – launching the careers of stars like Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Nick Kroll, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele – using modern Latino identity (misconceptions and all) as a fresh filter for cultural commentary about our daily lives and the zeitgeist…all rooted in his personal experience.

Teachers Season 3A (10 x 30mins)
9:30pm Monday June 24
Elementary school teachers serve a critical role in society, as they help shape the minds of America’s kids. That presents a problem, however, when the educators who are trying to mold the country’s youth don’t have their own lives in order. Whether it’s Ms. Snap hooking up with the school’s janitor or Ms. Bennigan flirting with the resident “hot dad,” the ladies teaching the youngsters on this comedy series are far from being the role models that parents would like teachers to be.
