David Tennant joins Netflix crime series

Crime series to be set across 4 different countries, and play in 4 different languages.

David Tennant will guest star in a bold upcoming Netflix series called Criminal.

Described as a 12-part crime procedural, it will be uniquely set across four different countries.

Each episode will span 45 minutes and take place solely within the confines of a police interview suite in France, Spain, Germany or the UK, to give a unique perspective on the mental conflict between detectives and suspects. The series will also be multilingual, with actors speaking in the language of whatever country the interview room is based.

Also appearing in three UK based episodes are Hayley Atwell, Katherine Kelly, Lee Ingleby, Nicholas Pinnock, Mark Stanley, Rochenda Sandall, Shubham Saraf, Youssef Kerkour and Clare-Hope Ashitey.

George Kay (Killing Eve, The Hour) and Jim Field Smith (Endeavour, The Wrong Mans) serve as showrunners for all 12 episodes.

All 12 episodes are expected in Spring on Netflix.

  1. Then Jed Mercurio should write them all, as he is the king of police procedural shows like Line of Duty which I think most watching Criminal will have in the back of their minds, on the other hand it would likely further hold back season 2 of Bodyguard so it may not be such a good idea.
