New projects from Ryan Murphy

An adaptation of A Chorus Line, and projects on Andy Warhol & Marlene Dietrich in the pipeline.

Prolific US producer Ryan Murphy has confirmed new projects in the pipeline, in addition to several already announced and ongoing.

Newly-confirmed projects include a 10-episode adaptation of A Chorus Line, a series about the designer Halston starring Ewan McGregor, a documentary series about Andy Warhol, and a Marlene Dietrich project that will star Murphy-favourite, Jessica Lange.

The Politician, starring Ben Platt, will launch on Netflix on September 27.

Murphy is currently in post-production on Ratched, a prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Sarah Paulson. He is also preparing Hollywood, to feature Patti LuPone and Holland Taylor in a tale of “the golden age of Tinseltown” plus a feature adaptation of The Prom starring Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.

These come on top of 9-1-1, American Crime Story, American Horror Story and Pose.

Last year he signed a mega-deal with Netflix, rumoured to be worth $300m (A$442m).

  1. Ryan Murphy has so many great ideas, he can’t possibly make them all happen. I cannot imagine Ewan McGregor playing the designer Halston at all, and hope he changes his mind on that. But anything he produces is always worth watching. It is never boring.

  2. Murphy is nearing Greg Berlanti levels of projects in active development and on screens. It’d be fascinating to see a documentary series on them to see how many projects they make decisions on any given day ~ especially days they’re directing.
