Bushfire crisis sees Sunrise at 2019 high

Ratings: Bushfire crisis pushes Sunrise to its biggest audience all year, and big viewing to 7plus.

The bushfire emergency saw 7plus draw its 3rd biggest ever Live day of viewing excluding Sport. It was also the biggest-ever single day of  catch-up.

The crisis also delivered Sunrise its biggest audience all year, at 329,000 -nearly a third of whom were in Sydney. Today drew 209,000 while News Breakfast was 134,000 / 43,000. Studio 10 also ran early at 17,000 but rose to 48,000 for Studio 10 Extra.

In primetime The Amazing Race Australia (608,000) and Bride & Prejudice (605,000) were locked in a timeslot battle. But 10 topped the demos.

They were followed by 7:30 (572,000), Paramedics (379,000), an extensive Football: Women’s International (243,000) and Scotland From The Sky (229,000).

The Rookie led thereafter at 364,000 (from 9pm) for Seven then One Born Every Minute (334,000), Love Island (236,000) and Insight (234,000).

Seven network won Tuesday with 30.5% then Nine 25.8%, 10 19.3%, ABC 15.9% and SBS 8.5%.

Seven News was #1 with 1.03m / 1.02m for Seven then Home and Away (636,000). The Chase was 539,000 / 367,000. World’s Most Shocking Emergency Calls was 199,000.

Nine News (875,000 / 871,000) was best for Nine then A Current Affair (746,000). Hot Seat was 468,000 / 313,000. Botched will be adjusted to 144,000 in 4 cities.

The Project was 453,000 / 279,000 for 10 then 10 News First (399,000 incl. a 90 min. Syd. bulletin). Celebrity Name Game was 128,000 in 4 cities. NCIS was 101,000, lower than a 10 BOLD repeat.

ABC News (741,000),  Dream Gardens The Drum also comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was SBS World News (128,000) and Dateline (124,000).

9 GEM’s Death in Paradise led multichannels at 176,000.

  1. When major news breaks people used to turn to Nine. However yesterday’s ratings for Today confirm that is no longer the case and vindicate the decision to change the talent on the show. Deb Knight did a brilliant job of the Sydney news last Friday and Saturday …. that is her real skill. Tom and Tony were never going to succeed.

    1. Apologies…… was a busy day at Screen Forever and keeping site running. I try to turn around ratings info as quickly as possible as they are so popular. I’d love to run them in the arvo and take more time.. I guess the strike rate is pretty good.

  2. tARA seems to be doing the job for ten. I thought the figures would be much softer than this. Good on them. These figures are pretty consistent with what survivor got in its first season from memory. So I think they will definitely renew this one
