The Block, Total Control win Sunday slots.

Ratings: No contest for The Block. Total Control wins slot on a season high.

The Block began its penultimate week with a strong win, sitting at #1 with 1.13m viewers, up on last week and easily topping the demos.

That was more than double all-comers, Grand Designs: The Street (489,000 from 7:30pm), Bride & Prejudice (422,000) and The Graham Norton Show (318,000 from 7:30pm).

Total Control won its slot at 8:30pm on a season high of 558,000 viewers for ABC followed by 60 Minutes (529,000), Sunday Night (382,000) and NCIS (280,000).

Nine network comfortably won Sunday with 35.1% then Seven 25.8%, ABC 16.9%, 10 13.4% and SBS 8.8%.

Nine News drew 842,000 for Nine. Murder Lies & Alibis averaged 259,000.

Seven News won its slot at 919,000 for Seven. A Confession was 229,000.

ABC News (653,000), Antiques Roadshow (188,000) and Patrick Melrose (158,000) also comprised ABC’s night.

The Sunday Project was 340,000 / 208,000 for 10 then 10 News First (210,000), and repeats  of NCIS (231,000) and Bondi Rescue (133,000).

On SBS it was Secrets Of The Railway (212,000), Lost World: Deeper Into The Black Sea (187,000) and SBS World News (134,000).

A Harry Potter movie on 7mate led multichannels a 172,000 just ahead of Love Island‘s 171,000.

  1. Total Control is so impressive. It holds it own against anything you’d classify as brilliant quality drama from any country. Deborah Mailman is amazing on screen and the supporting cast doesn’t disappoint. If you haven’t seen this yet you’re missing out.

    1. Yes,Total Control is quality, compelling viewing.
      Deborah is brilliant as usual – great to see her playing a more hard edged character for a change. Tough, uncompromising but at the same time, full of self doubt and vulnerability.
      All the cast are excellent. Took me a while to realise that Harry Richardson was also the innocent, naive Drake in Poldark. He’s playing a very different character here..

  2. So pleased Total Control won its slot. I can’t say enough good things about it. I expect it to scoop several awards, and not just Logies.
    The Block also has me hooked this year, can’t wait for the Auction, might even open a bottle of Red and put out a platter for the occasion.
