During his time has has hosted Hack Live, plus reporting for Foreign Correspondent and 7:30.

In mid-2019 he began working with The Project on the desk and out in the field including for recent bushfire coverage. His availability means more opportunity for on the road stories.

“They’re an amazing bunch of people and I’m looking forward to working more with them in 2020,” he said on Instagram.

A Network 10 spokesperson said, “Tom Tilley will remain a contributor to The Project, as he always has been.”

Tilley also plans to continue occasional appearances on ABC Radio and has signed a book deal with ABC Books.

His move comes after confirmation Hamish Macdonald would take up hosting duties at Q&A, while remaining with The Project.

  1. I wonder why CBS has not given this show the chop yet. It rates really bad for its time slot and most nights of the week the first half doesn’t make the top 20.

Highly paid presenters costing them a lot of advertising revenue. Can’t see this move fixing things.

    1. Because it offers a great alternative to the other news services. Half a million viewers cannot be dismissed in this day and age. It is a quality show winning a few Logies for best Current affairs and also Gold Logie winners. The cost of this show would not be over the top. One studio and 4 presenters and 1 studio using clips from the news services. 7 and 9 has about 6 state news bulletins, so 6 news presenters, several studios and lots of reporters, so that would be expensive and TEN would find it hard to present a third news service at 6pm.

  2. Not surprised by this. He has hardly been on the Hack program this year.
Avani Dias has been excellent in his place so hopefully she gets the full time gig.
