Airdate: Dublin Murders

This thriller, which drew a big UK audience, is coming to SBS.

Irish crime drama Dublin Murders screens on SBS in February.

This eight-part series, adapted by Sarah Phelps, is based on two books in the novel series by dana French. Each book is led by a different detective and their signature is described as an intense emotional connection between cop and crime.

This drew a big audience when it screened in the UK in November and a second is under discussion.

Set during the height of the Celtic Tiger financial boom of the millennium, it focuses on two murder investigations led by ambitious and charismatic Detectives Rob Reilly (Killian Scott) and Cassie Maddox (Sarah Greene). The victims – a young talented ballerina and a vivacious free-spirited woman are seemingly unrelated, but as we will discover, are knitted together by powerful shared themes – the macabre ‘red in tooth and claw’ elements of both stories, and their heart-thumping psychological thriller qualities.

Dublin Murders is produced by Euston Films, Veritas Entertainment Group and Element Pictures for BBC1.

8:30pm Wednesday, 19 February on SBS.

  1. I believe the quote is ‘bred in tooth and claw’…IMDB reviews are very mixed-main complaints seem to be the fact that 2 storylines are jammed into the the one series and a lack of conclusion-that screams ‘2nd series’ that may or may not occur.
