Another former Married at First Sight participant has taken aim at the show on social media.
Poppy Jennings took to Facebook to complain about selective editing. On Monday she was depicted as leaving the show due to missing her kids, leaving a producer to tell TV groom Luke Eglin he would also have to depart.
Jennings has accused producers of not giving the real story to her exit, and indicated she was “uncomfortable” with Eglin.
“Why is Luke crying when I left???” she wrote. “What really happened that he was crying over! You don’t know because I wasn’t allowed to say!!”
“I couldn’t say what was happening behind the scenes, as it was too controversial, so let’s just play her ugly crying and whinging over her kids,” she added.
“They make him out to be a hero and me a miserable whinger because I wasn’t allowed to express myself. I was assured I’d get a good edit if I dropped it.”
She claimed there were incidents during filming that were ‘too controversial’ to be shown on television.
‘I couldn’t say what was happening behind the scenes, as it was too controversial, so let’s just play her ugly crying and whinging over her kids,’ she wrote.
She also took aim at the producers Endemol Shine Australia and said the show’s experts never met Eglin before shooting.
“A lot of media have been reaching out to Endemol but they have not passed on the requests for interviews because they don’t want me to bad mouth Luke,” she said.
“They just wanted to silence me.”
The Facebook post attracted more than 10,000 comments before it was deleted.
Eglin did not respond to her claims, telling media, “I am not going to make any comments because, honestly, the best way to react is not to react.”
This morning on KIIS FM fellow participant Connie was asked what Jennings might be referring to.
“I just don’t feel comfortable really giving too much of my opinion on this matter because I guess it is big and it’s something Poppy and Luke need to deal with themselves,” she said, “adding “…inappropriate’s one word to use definitely it’s just, yeah, it’s heavy.”
Taking to social media to criticise the show will doubtless be in breach of contestant contracts.
Complaints from reality TV contestants about selective editing are nothing new. Yet Jennings is not the first aggrieved MAFS participant to go rogue in what is fast becoming an annual sport for the show.
Nine and Endemol Shine Australia release a joint statement: “We have seen Poppy’s post and note her distress – we have reached out to her and will continue to offer support and won’t be making any further public comment, and will focus on doing our best to support both Poppy and Luke.”

I thought it was a bit suspicious that Poppy left “just because she missed her kids”. Surely she would have been aware going into the “experiment ” that she would be required to be away from home.
But i thought , as in previous seasons , the cast could ‘pop home’ for a quick visit.
Stacey went home for a weekend to spend with her boys so obviously it could be organised. So there definitely seems to be a bit more going on than just missing her kids .
Never mind that, what did Luke really Do???
Don’t cry. We have no sympathy for you whatsoever. You knew full well what you were signing yourself up for ?
Poppy was very annoying on this season. Glad she’s gone!
She’s obviously not ready to spend time apart from her kids and probably should’ve stayed home.
I believe they have shorter sessions or full length.
Cannot stand her. Go away Poppy your times up!!! Next.
She’s been made to look like a goose, and didn’t like it, so she trys to shift the blame.
Hasn’t she seen the show?
This really shouldn’t surprise anyone re editing
Yeah. It’s been happening on these trashy shows since sylvania waters (earliest of this pathetic genre I can remember).
I even recall one of the ads where one of the mothers was saying something like “they’ll make you look like a goose”
