Nine has denied suggestions it blocked Delta Goodrem and Guy Sebastian from doing chats with Seven and Foxtel presenters during Sunday’s Fire Fight Australia concert.
Multiple sources tell TV Tonight requests to interview both Sony artists during the broadcast had been denied by Nine.
Sunday’s broadcasts, with separate hostings by Seven & Foxtel, included interviews with Alice Cooper, kd lang, Olivia Newton-John, Adam Lambert, 5 Seconds of Summer, Jessica Mauboy, Michael Buble, Amy Shark, Tina Arena, Ronan Keating and more.
But neither of The Voice coaches appeared beyond their stage performances.
Nine Director of Communications and Public Relations Victoria Buchan told TV Tonight, “No, we didn’t get asked. They are under contract to us right now for The Voice 2020 but we allowed them to do the concert. We never got asked about interviews.
“I think someone is being petty, but that’s not us. It was an amazing event and so brilliantly put together we should all be celebrating the success of it, the money raised the goodwill created and the opportunity to celebrate and thank those who have suffered so much this summer.”

So glad those two weren’t interviewed. Though must admit they did good performances, if not the best of the night. But whole concert and Rove’s hosting on Foxtel was brilliant.
How strong is Guys association with The Voice? I suspect most people like me probably think of his time in Idol over being a judge on The Voice… Which makes me then realise how over 7 years The Voice has failed to find a star while many from Idol are still successful
Totally agree the Voice has not produced a single star not even in America. Idol and X Factor are so much better formats. Even Got Talent shows have produced more stars. Don’t know why the continue with The Voice. I like hearing the blind auditions but the fact that they put up their own team against each other are insane!
Delta as an example is allowed to appear on Sunrise when she has new music out. I believe they keep the music career and tv career / contacts seperate.
Except that she hasn’t done Sunrise for many years.
the typical 3 sides to every argument, their argument and your argument, and the truth gets left by the way side.
Someone is not telling the truth.
It’s still possible lines of communication at fault, however other Sony artists did do chats.
I’d say it’s 7 that wouldn’t allow them to be interviewed. They’re very petty.
Both broadcasters requested.
Bit of He says She says in a lot of these articles but in the end who really cares
My guess is 7 would not want to interview them because they are in the 9 stable. I really don’t think 9 would deny them interviews in light of the cause. Neither are global stars and we get to see them often on The Voice so it does not really matter much.
