Axed: God Friended Me

US drama has been officially unfriended by CBS after two seasons.

US drama God Friended Me is ending with its current second season.

US reports confirm it will wrap with a two-hour finale -which has had time to incorporate a conclusion.

The show stars Brandon Micheal Hall as an atheist whose life is turned upside-down when he receives a friend request on social media from “God.”

“We’re extremely proud of the unique concept and uplifting stories God Friended Me has told over the past two seasons,” CBS and Warner Bros. Television said in a joint statement.

“We thank the brilliant cast, writers, production team and crew for a show that stirred thoughtful conversation about faith, life and happiness, and made viewers feel good at the end of each episode. The creative team behind the show has one last ‘friend suggestion’ in mind, as well as an ending we hope brings a satisfying conclusion to Miles’ journey in search of the God Account.”

Season Two is currently screening in Australia Monday nights on Seven, and is now expected to bow out in early May.

    1. I agree carolemorrissey, I’m loving GFM. Is it a bit “Little House On The Prairie”? Probably, but it’s a welcome relief from a lot of the other stuff that’s on TV at the moment.

I’ll be sad to see it wind up, but I’m keen to see who’s been playing God this whole time.

And to “thedirtydigger” – if you don’t have anything nice to say, …

      1. The basic structure is like Touched By An Angel, except with unknown technology serving as the Divine. This led to the stories being a bit schmaltzy an wildly improbable at times. It was light and entertaining at a time when there is little of that on TV anymore.

There was limited amount of time they could drag out the mystery with Red Herrings, and S2 was heading towards the end of that with an insurance database and a super military AI looking the likely answer. As the article says they had notice and have done a 2 hour final to wrap it up.
