ePremier League Invitational on Optus Sport

If you can't play for real, play it unreal...

The ePremier League Invitational, a virtual event which has just been announced by the Premier League, will screen on Optus Sport this Tuesday evening.

All 20 Premier League teams will be represented, competing in a FIFA20 single-elimination knockout competition, battling it out to become the inaugural ePremier League Invitational PS4 Champion.

“There’s nothing quite like seeing your team compete live, and the beauty of the ePremier League Invitational is that it will be a chance for the best footballers to reignite their competitive juices with their club’s honour at stake,” Optus’ Director of Sport Richard Bayliss said.

“People are understandably missing the excitement that live football provides, so what better way to fill the void than through a virtual world where clubs and players are still competing?

“Liverpool has been the hunted side throughout the season, and every single player will be gunning for the Premier League’s best right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold when he competes for the Reds.

“We’re excited to provide our Optus Sport subscribers with live coverage of the tournament throughout the week, complementing our enormous archive of classic matches, documentaries and shows.”

Among the players competing in the tournament are Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace), John McGinn (Aston Villa), Lys Mousset (Sheffield United) and Diogo Jota (Wolverhampton Wanderers).

The full line-up will be confirmed ahead of the draw for the tournament, on Monday April 21. The tournament will commence Tuesday evening AEST. The opening rounds feature four matches per day before the semi-finals and final that will be scheduled for the weekend.

For customers who are on paid Optus Sport subscriptions, Optus has suspended Optus Sport monthly subscription fees until the end of May 2020. Customers can still access a wealth of quality football, including archives of classic matches, short-form highlights and much more, as well as this newly announced ePremier League Invitational tournament.
