I understand it may be higher per capita than the US and UK but when you look at our population which has approximately 10 million homes, it is hard to have much confidence that obtaining a sample of 5250 homes will be a true reflection on viewing patterns, particularly if some of the ratings boxes are not moved around as you mentioned earlier.
If you look into Research industry you will find there is a threshhold where the results do not vary much thereafter, no matter how much bigger you make the pool. This is common the world over. Remember that networks own OzTAM so they are determined to have most accurate info because their business relies on it. The moving of boxes is a slightly different question.
The demo is 16 -39 not 16- 18
Unfortunately the actual ratings in our metro areas will never be truly reflected by the current oztam system. A sample of only 5,250 homes is such a small sample size. In my opinion there will always be flaws until the sample size with ratings boxes is increased.
It’s actually a high sample and I think higher than UK and US per capita.
9Rush 1% very valuable at the moment
These things take time, look at how 10 BOLD has risen.
I am saying it is a good thing as it got them the win.
7food Network was getting 1% on Gordon Ramsay nights… Nine will be hoping for higher in the long run, a la 7flix and 9Life at least, to make it sustainable.
I don’t mean to insult the intelligence levels of the younger 16-39 demographics but i find it very hard to believe the news is all they are watching. Who has these coded boxes in their houses and do they change them around periodically? It seems the ratings doesn’t really reflect what people are watching imo.
News is on everybody’s radar, so no reason that demo would be any different. It’s not all they are watching, it is what they are watching most on FTA. Yes boxes are moved around, but you can keep it for several years if it suits. There are 5,250 homes in the panel.
They’d be likely watching news on FTA and scripted content on streaming.
Lower the expected for the launch of House Rules. Seven even had to split the show into 2 for the ratings.
Yep. And the lead in from Seven News wasn’t much.
Wow! Very low numbers for House Rules considering it was the only reality program on last night and not much on the other commercial networks.
