UK music special ABBA: The Secrets of Their Greatest Hits screens on Nine next week.
This includes never-before-seen footage and interviews around ABBA’s classic songs.
It will be followed by a repeat of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Last year Nine was due to screen ABBA: Let the Music Speak produced by the BBC, but the special is yet to be released internationally.
In April 2018 ABBA announced that they had recorded two new songs, revealing the first track titled “I Still Have Faith in You”. There are now five new ABBA songs to be released in 2020.
Viewers will see what exactly happened in the studio when their biggest hits were recorded, what inspired the music and lyrics, the cultural and social background and, most interestingly, the drama, tantrums and feuds that surrounded the four superstars: Benny, Bjorn, Agnetha and Anni-Frid.
Tracing the personal and musical development of the Swedish group, we gain insight into the moments such as the time Agnetha Fältskog cried when she read the lyrics for The Winner Takes It All, and what it took to create the all-time classics Mama Mia and Dancing Queen.
Tuesday, May 19, at 7.30pm on Nine.

Looking forward to this Special.
I enjoy every ABBA Special shown on TV – even if I’ve seen them before. Can’t get enough of ABBA on TV !
Would be really wonderful if ‘The Best Of ABBA’ could be shown again after all these years.
They run them because they rate – and guess what is number 1 again on itunes this week? ABBA Gold. Australia is a market where at one stae one in every three homes had an ABBA album.
Is it 1977 ?
Back then, it seemed there was an ABBA special every week.
ABBA is like Mash every channel having a slice of it?
oops meant to Nine and Seven!
