What I’ve Been Watching: Angela Bishop

10 News First Entertainment Editor and Studio 10 co-host Angela Bishop is a fan of MasterChef, The Secrets She Keeps, Little Fires Everywhere and Succession.

Here’s what else is on her watch list!

1. What shows are on your must-see TV list lately?
AB: I cant miss MasterChef, Im addicted. I just finished catching up on the brilliant The Secret She Keeps, which I loved. Season three of Marcella has got me binging, and I really enjoyed Little Fires Everywhere and also a doco called Dads which is the directorial debut of Jurassic Park star Bryce Dallas Howard. It’s got her dad Ron Howard aka Richie Cunningham in it. I was glued to The Clinton Affair and Succession and also watched Ava DuVernays powerful doco 13th. I caught Jerry Seinfeld and Hannah Gadsby doing new comedy and Im steeling myself to watch AfterLife series 2. I thought season one was incredible, but I have to be in a very strong emotional place to dive in. I caught Defending Jacob and am enjoying Julian Fellowes new one Belgravia. And the weeks not complete without HYBPA.

2. How has lockdown affected your viewing?
AB: During lockdown I revisited a few faves including both seasons of the brilliant Big Little Lies and Fleabag. I needed a dose of Hot Priest. I’ve been drawn to a kind of comfort viewing some days. So I’ll watch things Ive seen many times like Notting Hill or The Devil Wears Prada. The 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice has had a couple of runs (the only version worth watching – you can keep your inferior movie adaptations) and Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister are on high rotation. Luther, Silent Witness and Line of Duty round out my faves.

3. Which guilty pleasure show are you reluctant to admit to watching?
AB: My guilty pleasure is sitting down to a bit of Dr Pimple Popper or Botched. I’m obsessed with the happy endings! Lives are transformed! My not-so-guilty pleasure is Bold and the Beautiful and I’ve been enjoying the classic episodes Channel 10 has been running after they ran out of new eps during COVID. A bit of Brooke and Taylor biffo is just the thing after a long day. My character JJ even popped up a couple of times! The Bold team is back at work this week so we’ll have new eps soon.

4. When you settle down for a night on the couch what are your must-haves?
AB: Devices are the main thing I have handy when I watch. I’ll do a bit of work, or google questions prompted by what Im watching.

5. What show would you secretly love to appear on?
AB: I would secretly love to appear on Celebrity Mastermind. But we would need to discuss the lighting.

6. If you were running Studio 10 what changes would you love to introduce?
AB: I have been paid a substantial amount of money to say more Jono Coleman. The cheque was signed Jono Coleman.
