HBO have released the first trailer for the second season of His Dark Materials.

Joining the cast are Andrew Scott as Colonel John Parry while Fleabag co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge will lend her voice and play Parry’s daemon. A filming shutdown caused by the pandemic caused the season to be shortened by one episode to seven in total.

Based on author Philip Pullman’s beloved trilogy, His Dark Materials follows Lyra, a brave young woman from another world. Lyra’s quest to find her kidnapped friend leads her to uncover a sinister plot of a secret organization, encounter extraordinary beings and protect dangerous secrets.

His Dark Materials screens in Australia on FOX Showcase in Spring.

  1. Really enjoyed the first season.
    On the season being an episode shorter, it’s still a complete adaptation of the second novel that was filmed last year. The scrapped episode was a self-contained extra episode detailing other events going on. So it’s a loss but shouldn’t impact the season.
