Seven Nightly News Tasmania was forced to switch to a Melbourne bulletin last night after suffering a big power failure, some 21 minutes into its broadcast.
After two minutes of dead air, commercials took over.
But it wasn’t until the 29 minute mark that viewers returned to news via Peter Mitchell at Seven News Melbourne.
Update: Turns out it was also the final bulletin for presenter Rachel Williams. But she returns tonight for a farewell.
Talk about going out with a bang! I still can’t quite believe the unprecedented power outage in the control room last night. Stand by for take two tonight after a mammoth effort overnight by our technicians to get us back on air @7tasnews pic.twitter.com/0ErI0EjNez

I’m confused by that logo “TVTNT/69” since TVT6 is the Hobart station (10 affiliate) owned by WIN.
YouTube channel name.
It’s a mashup of the TVT-6 & TNT-9 logos prior to them both becoming Tas-TV in the mid-80s.
I always like it when the newsreader welcomes the interstate viewers and gives them the sentence of whats happened. There have been a few of Syd / Melb cross over over the years…
