Banijay out of MIPCOM event

Another big name decides against attending trade event in Cannes.

Production giant Banijay has become the latest big name to drop out of attending MIPCOM next month in Cannes.

The international TV trade event will also be skipped this year by Fremantle, ITV Studios and BBC Studios due to concerns around the COVID pandemic.

“Banijay has taken the decision not to attend this year’s physical event. The health and wellbeing of our teams remain paramount at this time and with that, we cannot justify travelling our employees to Cannes. As ever, we continue to support (organisers) Reed Midem, with many of our employees likely to register for Mipcom Online+,” said a Banijay spokesperson.

The annual event is due to take place October 12-15 on the French Riviera.

ITV Studios has said it will also host its own series of virtual content sessions for buyer from September 14th.
