Since last year’s survey, Nine has launched 9RUSH with high adrenaline reality aimed at Men aged 25-54.

This complements the female-skewing 9Life which has 4 upcoming local titles: Country House Hunters Australia with Catriona Rowntree, Dream Homes Revealed with Jennifer Hawkins, Australia’s Best House with Megan Gale and My Aussie Build.

9GO! targets 16 – 39 year olds while 9GEM is one of the few channels openly catering to viewers 55+.

  1. 9Life is a favourite channel, and it has been interesting to note the gradual move towards nearly 100% house/reno based shows, and the “desperate housewives” genre has greatly diminished. Thanks for the Good Bones picture, Mina and Karen are some of the best presenters on tv.

    Lots of Bear Grylls on the new 9Rush, and his content appeals to all demographics.

  2. Fair play to Nine that on paper at least they have a portfolio of channels which cover all demos quite nicely with fairly limited overlap, and probably just enough on each channel to appeal beyond the stated demo too.

  3. It has been suggested that 9Gem will make use of “The Extra Terrestrial Signal Act 2018” to broadcast signals from Outer Space such as live images from Mars, eclipses and reflections of signals from Earth. Such signals are outside our planets copyright laws. It would be purely coincidental that the 9Gem 2021 broadcasts are a reflection of 9Gem from 2020 exactly 12 months previously. The owners of Proxima Centauri e did not reply to our email.

  4. As with 7Flix, 9 Rush is not available in Tasmania. Under the first run titles are they denoted first run on commercial TV ? As some are on ABC TV such as Death in Paradise and Agatha Raisin.

  5. Some Tech errors: You should specify MPEG-2 SD for GO! etc. And GEM is HD & SD, i.e. MPEG-4 HD & MPEG-2 SD (simulcast). Just saying MPEG-2 is meaningless, as MPEG-2/4 can be either SD or HD.
