The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a third season by Netflix.
The news comes some three months after the second season debut.
Returning cast members include Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.
The superhero series is based on the comic book series of the same name created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics.
Filming of 10 new episodes is set to begin in February in Toronto.

There’s a lot of loose threads in the story so it was either green light another season or keep fans in purgatory, which I guess is what this show is all about.
I’m not sure how it would be possible to find a proper ending for The Umbrella Academy so fans will eventually have to prepare for Netflix to call a halt without real closure, but there’s no reason not to have at least 5 seasons before then.
I just tried this show on netflix late last week, already given up on it after 3 and a half episodes, bit of a snorefest.
Yes, I trudged through the first season, on the basis of buzz. I’ve learnt not to do that now.
The second series was better than the first, but you do need to be into this type of show.
Finally some good news from Netflix. Love this series. I’m so glad we get to see more. Netflix has cancelled so much this year so this is something positive.
Yay! News I’ve been waiting for. Thanks David.
Great news. This series has really grown on me and the cliffhanger was awesome
