Getaway: Best Aussie Holidays

Australian Survivor's David Genet presents one of the new staycations tonight on Nine.

Getaway screens a new episode tonight, Best Aussie Holidays, showcasing animal encounters, action adventures, budget escapes and romantic rendezvous.

All are new segments.

Former Australian Survivor champ, David Genet, features  in a surf segment at WA’s Scarborough Beach.

Having a holiday doesn’t have to mean travelling great distances. There’s something to be said for being a tourist in your own city. As David Genat unveils, there’s no better start than at Scarborough Beach in Perth. It’s got everything you need from sun to surf, food to fun, and it’s a boastful 20 minutes from the CBD. With sandy bottom beach breaks, Scarborough makes for the perfect beach for beginner surfers, which encourages Dave to put his amateur skills to the test.

While Dave is taking on waves, Charli Robinson continues the action-packed itinerary in the Gold Coast hinterlands at Mountain Tamborine’s Treetop Challenge. Well and truly among nature, Charli takes on the longest, fastest and highest zipline in the country. Charli was promised anyone and everyone can do it, as an 83 year-old recently completed it and loved every minute. And that’s just the beginning, from high ropes courses to a canyon flyer, it’s the ultimate action-packed circuit.
To slow things down, Renee Bargh takes viewers on a whimsical staycation to Byron Bay at Blackbird, a luxury bed and breakfast just half hour’s drive north of town. With a sprawling hinterland location, nearby waterfalls, and jaw dropping ocean views, Blackbird has become the go-to destination for those yearning for a romantic getaway, and Renee guides viewers to all its added benefits.

And there’s more: Lauren Phillips explores free activities on offer in tropical Darwin, Catriona Rowntree visits the creative and cultural hub of St Kilda, and cheap eats that require only a $10 note are signposted in Sydney’s CBD.

  1. Good to see the “Golden God” back on our screens.
Knew he’d pop up eventually again on TV in some form or another.
Maybe looking at him becoming a permanent presenter on Getaway?

      1. Ah, yes, forgot about Dave being on CA as well.
Really look forward to watching him in that – I’m sure he will be good value.
Ash from I’ m A Celeb actually reminds me of David . But a “poor man’s” version without the looks, charisma or humour.
