Viewers were torn between a Married at First Sight: Grand Reunion and the finale of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here last night with both shows sitting under one million viewers.
MAFS Grand Reunion drew 866,000 metro viewers while Celebrity was 784,000 for the bulk of its finale -but it did rise to 896,000 for the moment Abbie Chatfield was crowned as ‘Queen of the (so-called) Jungle.’
Against heated competition 10’s finale was down slightly on 2020’s 884,000 winner ann. / 803,000.
Officially we are still in summer non-survey with OzTAM survey due from next Sunday. But networks have fired their guns early in a bid to win viewer loyalty, including big premieres tonight.
Nine easily drew the most viewers last night with a 32.6% share then Seven 25.6%, 10 20.9%, ABC 14.1% and SBS 6.9%.
Seven News was the top drawcard of the night at 992,000 viewers, while 60 Minutes returned to 701,000.
The Big Bash League was up to 511,000 viewers.

Wow I thought MAFS would just crack 1m. This makes me think Holey Moley might be in with a chance to be #1 thought. Unfortunately I think The Amazing Race will be last of the three, but hopefully not too far behind.
I didn’t expect MAFS to be under 1 million due to the success each year, but tonight will be the real test with 3 shows on MAFS, TARA and HM.
Enjoyed the MAFS reunion special. And its the perfect way to say goodbye to the show for me. Nothing will top the stupidity and pure trash of two years ago, was so entertaining. That said, Amazing race – I’m jumping on that bandwagon this year. It look spectacular
It was predictable that MAFS would beat I Want To Be a Celebrity, but it wasn’t by much. Both shows are trash in my opinion. As a discerning viewer, I chose to watch Joanna Lumleys Unseen Adventures and the series ‘Us’ on BBC First. Enjoyed both.
I discerned my way to MAFS. A plum voice does not make a show interesting
MAFS is simply trash viewing. One day the public will wake up…..
It is 100% trash viewing. But it brings in the viewers year after year. Sometimes people just want to blob out and watch this sort of stuff, rather than investing in scripted content (which hasn’t ratted particularly well on FTA in recent years).
My theory on the appeal of MAFS and similar shows is people know the show is trash, but people love watching others make complete fools of themselves and we love judging them
IAC 896 MAFS 866
Good defeats evil!
MAFS had more viewers than IAC finale. 10 coded the winner announced separately as a shorter segment, but by that stage it was against 60 Mins. Still pretty big crowds for both.
896 is a bigger number than 866 David.
More people watched IAC Crowning than MAFS. That’s a win.
Thanks, I’m aware of what’s a bigger number, but was endeavouring to give you the context around coding tactics. It’s gonna be a long year.
I watched some of MAFS last night. Honestly it was shameful. What are Nine thinking putting this on at 7pm? I honestly think we will look back at this show with shame and disgust in years to come. It is horrible.
I was watching a bit of all both of them but the most interesting show of the night was Joanna Lumleys Unseen Adventures on the ABC.
Wasn’t it great? Missed the start but will go looking to re-watch. Also, the cricket was a great game. Recorded IAC to watch at leisure but deleted without watching after seeing who had the most votes.
