The Mandalorian fires Gina Carano

Offensive posts on social media costs actress role on Disney+ series.

The Mandalorian has dropped Gina Carano from the Disney+ Star Wars series after sharing offensive posts on social media.

Carano played Rebel Alliance soldier and friend of Din Djarin, Cara Dune, in the first two seasons.

Lucasfilm’s decision comes after the actress shared a post on Instagram that compared being a Republican supporter in the US to being Jewish during the Holocaust. The post has since been deleted.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm said: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future.

“Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

  1. Disney has always been really conservative from its inception. They don’t like their stars or staff to stir up controversy, it is pretty much in your contract so I can’t understand how these people don’t think twice before posting their opinions on social media or at least just leave Disney if they feel so strongly about being a commentator.
