Airdate: The Nevers

Joss Whedon's fantasy / superhero series begins on Binge in April.

Part One of US fantasy / superhero series, The Nevers from Joss Whedon, will screen on Binge in April.

August, 1896. Victorian London is rocked to its foundations by a supernatural event which gives certain people – mostly women – abnormal abilities, from the wondrous to the disturbing. But no matter their particular “turns,” all who belong to this new underclass are in grave danger.

The series stars Laura Donnelly as Amalia True, a mysterious, quick-fisted widow and Ann Skelly as Penance Adair, a brilliant young inventor who are given the responsibility to protect and shelter these gifted “orphans.” To do so, they will have to face the brutal forces determined to annihilate their kind.

The ensemble cast includes Olivia Williams, James Norton, Tom Riley, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, Amy Manson, Pip Torrens, Denis O’Hare, Zackary Momoh, Elizabeth Berrington, Kiran Sawar, Anna Devlin, Viola Prettejohn, Ella Smith, Nick Frost and Ben Chaplin.

The Nevers is created and executive produced by Joss Whedon; executive produced by Bernadette Caulfield, Ilene S. Landress, Doug Petrie, Jane Espenson and Philippa Goslett.

Whedon also departed The Nevers in November citing exhaustion, after an investigation by WarnerMedia following allegations by actor Ray Fisher of “abusive, unprofessional” behaviour on the set of the feature film Justice League. In December WarnerMedia announced that its investigation had concluded and that “remedial action” had been taken. Whedon has since drawn headlines following separate allegations by Charisma Carpenter around filming of Buffy and Angel.

Six episodes will screen weekly beginning 12 April on Binge and Foxtel On Demand.

NB: Comments are closed on allegations.
